Analytical Approaches to Design and Operation of Modern Container Terminals

Lecture topic: Analytical Approaches to Design and Operation of Modern Container Terminals

Keynote speaker:Kap Hwan Kim

Lecture time: 9:30;18:30 on July 11rd

Venue: 308, scientific research building

Abstract

Because container vessels spend a significant amount of transportation time in ports, it is essential to improve the productivity of various handling activities at port container terminals. Furthermore, in order to modernize container terminals, new automated container handling facilities have been continuously developed and installed, which has opened up new research topics. This lecture introduces various decision-making problems and approaches to these problems related to optimizing the design and operation of container terminals. Basic analytical models and approaches to solve the models will be introduced to the audience. The current and future issues for researchers will be discussed at the end of the lecture.
