The Institute of Logistics Science and Engineering hosted the first IEEE International Symposium on IoT Perception and Instrumentation

“Wisdom leads, everything connects” and perceives the new era of Internet of Things. From September 6th to 7th, the first IEEE International Symposium on IoT Perception and Instrumentation was held in Pudong New Area, Shanghai. Yang Jianrong, member of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal People's Political Consultative Conference and vice chairman of the Shanghai Association for Science and Technology, Huang Youfang, president of the Shanghai Maritime University, and Zhou Yimin, vice president of the Shanghai Association of Outstanding Contribution Experts and director of the Shanghai Supercomputing Center, attended the meeting and delivered speeches. Vice Chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology and Academician Chen Saijuan of the Chinese Academy of Engineering sent a congratulatory letter to the meeting. Academician Zou Shichang of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician Yan Junhao, Gu Bing, Party Secretary of Shanghai Pudong New Area Science Association, Fu Yuxi, Chairman of the Shanghai Computer Society, Vice President Yan Wei of Shanghai Maritime University and relevant department heads also attended the meeting, from China, USA, Germany More than 200 experts and scholars in the Internet of Things field in the United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, Hungary, Australia, Romania, United Arab Emirates, India and other countries and regions attended the meeting. The chairman of the conference, Professor Yang Yongsheng of our school presided over the opening ceremony.

         With the theme of “Internet of Things Perception and Instrumentation”, this seminar has carried out extensive and in-depth discussions and exchanges on the frontier applications of Internet of Things technology in smart cities, smart health, smart port and smart sea.

        In his speech at the opening ceremony, President Huang Youfang said that with the vigorous development of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, mobile Internet and cloud computing, a series of emerging formats such as smart transportation, smart logistics and smart ports have emerged. This conference cuts the current research on the theory of Internet of Things and the hot spot of industrial development, which reflects the good situation of multi-disciplinary cross-integration, industry-university-research cooperation and win-win. Shanghai Maritime University actively serves the national strategic needs, and combines its own characteristics, relying on the platform of “Intelligent Port Logistics Transportation Industry Collaborative Innovation Platform” and “Logistics Research Center” to target scientific research innovation and personnel training in frontier fields such as Internet of Things and artificial intelligence. Serve smart logistics, smart ports, and smart transportation. The convening of this seminar will have a positive impact on the improvement of scientific research strength in the field of Internet of Things and the development of related industries.

        In his speech, Vice Chairman Yang Jianrong said that Shanghai should make full use of the outstanding advantages in the scale and application promotion of the Internet of Things industry to build the core competitiveness of the Internet of Things industry.

       This international symposium is the first international conference held in cooperation with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Instrument and Measurement Association. It provides an international exchange and cooperation platform and industry-university research for scientific research and industrial applications in the field of Internet of Things. More than 60 delegates gave a report on the topic of smart logistics, sensor network, medical health, industrial Internet of things, machine vision and other six topics. .
