讲座摘要:
Thepresentation willdiscussthe findingsfrom2Ph.D. research studies:
(1)“DualThree-PhasePermanentMagnetSynchronousMachineInvestigationforBatteryElectric VehiclePower-trains”
AdualthreephasemachinewithIPMrotoranddistributedwindinghasbeenstudiedandcompared to a commercial automotivetraction machine, theNissanLeafIPM machine. Theperformanceof thetwodesigns arecompared fortypicaltractionoperatingpoints, viahigh torque, low speed and lowtorque, highspeed, constantpowerfieldweakening operation.Thedualthree-phasemachine is shown to haveimproved torquedensityand torquequalitywithoutcompromisingefficiency.
(2) “Multiphase Voltage Source Inverter DC-link Capacitor Considerations”
Theinvestigationmethodologyandprocedureforarbitraryphasenumbertwolevelvoltagesource inverter(VSI)DC-linkcapacitorsaredevelopedincludingVSI DC-linkcapacitorintroduction, multiphaseVSI modellingandinvestigationmethodandcapacitorrequirementsetc.,basedon whichtheDC-linkcapacitorrequirementsareanalytically characterizedfordifferentphase numberVSIs.Undertheequitableoperating conditions,theincreaseofthephasenumber inherently alleviatestheDC-linkcapacitorrequirements.Otherfactors,e.g.switching strategies, carrierwaveformsandinterleavingtechniques,alsodeterminetheDC-linkcapacitorrequirements. ForthehigherphasenumberVSIs,theirincreasedconfigurationflexibilitiesmake itpossibleto furtherdecreasetheDC-linkcapacitorrequirements.Thestudyispartially validated experimentallythroughthe3-and9-phaseVSIsdrivingbrushlesspermanentmagnet(BLPM) machines.Finally,theDC-linkcapacitor designprocedure is proposedfor twolevelmultiphase VSIs.
主讲人简介:
Nigel Schofield received the degrees of B.Eng. (Hons.) in Electrical Power Engineering, and Ph.D. for research on the field-weakening capability of brushless permanent-magnet traction machines from the University of Sheffield, UK. He held academic posts at the Universities of Sheffield and Manchester, UK. He has also been a Design Engineer in industry, UK. From2013 to 2017 he was Full Professor with Tenure in the ECE Dept. at McMaster University, Ontario, Canada. In May 2017 he started in a new post as Professor in Electrical Engineering at the University of Huddersfield, UK.His research interests include electro-magnetic power-trains for all- and hybrid-electric vehicles. Prof. Schofield is a member of the IET and IEEE and a Chartered Engineer.
