On December 6-7, President Youfang Huang, Dean Yongsheng Yang of Institute of Logistics Science & Engineering, and others from Shanghai Maritime University (SMU) visited ISCTE-University Institute of Lisbon (ISCTE-IUL) on invitation. They were warmly received by President Maria de Lurdes Rodrigues, Vice President Maria das Dores Guerreiro, and Dean Carlos Sa da Costa of ISCTE-IUL. The two parties held talks on the dual-master’s degree joint programme, faculty and student exchange and mutual visits, laboratory construction, and academic research. A renowned public university in Europe, ISCTE-IUL has in recent years carried out in-depth cooperation with Institute of Logistics Science and Engineering of SMU in dual-master’s degree joint programs, organization of international conferences, academic research, and faculty exchange. So far, Institute of Logistics Science and Engineering has sent a total of nine master students to ISCTE-IUL as part of the dual-master’s degree joint programs, and one Ph.D. student for the joint training program.
In order to further expand and deepen cooperation between the insititutions, on behalf of the two parties, President Youfang Huang, Dean Yongsheng Yang, President Maria de Lurdes Rodrigues, and Dean Carlos Sa da Costa signed the “Dual-Doctorate Joint Programme Agreement between Shanghai Maritime University and ISCTE-University Institute of Lisbon,” in which SMU and ISCTE-IUL agree to jointly train dual-degree Ph.D. students.
During his stay in Lisbon, President Youfang Huang visited the teaching facilities and laboratories of ISCTE-IUL, and conversed with SMU students at ISCTE-IUL on their academics and life there.
